How the memorable password generator works
Each word is selected independently from the EFF long word list of 7,776 entries using cryptographically secure browser randomness. Optional digits and symbols are also chosen randomly. The displayed entropy reflects those documented choices.
How many words should you use?
Four random words plus the optional random suffix provide a practical memorable-password format. Six or more independently selected words are better suited to a high-value passphrase. Two or three words are offered only for systems with strict limits and trigger a visible warning.
Do not make the words personal
Names, birthdays, quotations, and connected phrases are easier to predict than independent random words. Keep the generated words intact, use the result for only one account, and save it in a trusted password manager when possible.
Memorable password versus phonetic password
A word password uses real dictionary words. A phonetic password uses pronounceable random syllables, which may be shorter but is not composed of real words.
