How the phonetic password generator works
The generator independently selects consonants and vowels with the Web Crypto API. Open syllables follow a consonant-vowel pattern; closed syllables add a final consonant and provide a much larger search space.
Is a phonetic password secure?
It can be when enough syllables are selected randomly. Pronounceability reduces the search space compared with unrestricted random characters, so the tool displays entropy based on the exact pattern and options you choose. Longer results are safer.
Phonetic spelling versus pronunciation
The syllable line helps you say the generated gibberish. The NATO-style spelling line helps distinguish similar letters when reading the password aloud. Only communicate a password when you trust the channel and recipient.
Use each password once
Generate a different password for every account and store it in a trusted password manager. If a site accepts long generated passwords, the general password generator offers a larger character alphabet.
