Password QR Code Generator

Turn a password—or an optional username and password—into a scannable QR code for device-to-device transfer. The code is created entirely in your browser.

A QR code does not encrypt your password. Anyone who can see, scan, photograph, or decode the image can read the details. Delete saved QR files when the transfer is complete.

What does this password QR code contain?

With no username, the code contains exactly the password you entered. With a username, it contains two labeled lines: one for the username and one for the password. This is portable plain text, not a vendor-specific login or autofill command.

Is a password QR code secure?

A QR code is a visual way to carry text; it is not encryption. Treat the image like a visible copy of the credential. Do not post it publicly, leave it in a shared photo library, send it through an untrusted channel, or reuse the encoded password for unrelated accounts.

When is a password QR code useful?

It can reduce typing errors when moving a long random password between devices you control. Scan it in a trusted QR reader, copy the text into the intended app, verify the destination, and remove the image afterward. For a wireless network, use the Wi-Fi QR code generator instead; it creates the standard Wi-Fi connection payload phones recognize.

How is this different from a password manager?

This tool creates a temporary transfer artifact and does not store, sync, rotate, or autofill credentials. A reputable password manager is the better long-term home for unique account passwords. If you need a new credential, the generate button uses browser cryptography to create one locally.
