What “offline password generator” means

A browser can generate a password locally without sending the result to a server, but reopening an ordinary web page still requires a connection unless the page was installed or saved. The downloadable edition removes that dependency.

The downloaded file contains its interface, styles, and generation code. It has no remote fonts, scripts, images, analytics, ads, storage, or update requests. Opening it from a local drive gives the browser everything it needs in one file.

How the offline file creates passwords

The offline edition uses crypto.getRandomValues(), which remains available to local-file pages in modern browsers. It selects at least one character from every enabled group, fills the remaining positions from the combined alphabet, and securely shuffles the result.

It does not use Math.random(), personal information, a master password, or deterministic regeneration. Save each generated password in a trusted password manager because this tool intentionally cannot recover it later.

Browser-local versus fully offline

For a single-purpose utility, a readable HTML file is easier to inspect and carries less installation surface than an unknown executable.

Offline does not replace safe storage

Generating locally limits network exposure during creation. It does not protect a password copied into an insecure note, reused across accounts, captured by malware, or exposed through screenshots and clipboard history. Use a unique password for every account and transfer it directly into its destination or a trusted manager.

Check the downloaded tool

  1. Open the saved file in a text editor and confirm it contains inline HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  2. Disconnect from the network, reopen the file, and generate several values.
  3. Open browser developer tools if desired and confirm there are no network requests.
  4. Download a fresh copy from the canonical page when you want an updated version.

Do not use a downloaded copy from an unknown mirror. A modified generator could display predictable values or transmit output when a connection becomes available.
