What is a letter password?
A letter password contains only characters from the English alphabet. This generator selects every position independently with browser cryptography, so its output is random rather than a word, name, date, or keyboard pattern.
8 letter password generator
The default output is exactly eight letters because that is the most common letters-only length in the research set. Eight random mixed-case letters provide about 46 bits of search space. Some systems may still reject that length or require a number or symbol.
Uppercase, lowercase, or mixed case
Mixed case draws from 52 possible letters and guarantees at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter. A single-case result draws from 26 letters. Removing I, l, and O reduces the alphabet again to make manual transcription easier.
Generate the requested format, then assess the destination
Short formats remain available when a legacy system requires them. Use a longer result whenever the destination permits it, store each password in a password manager, never reuse it, and enable multifactor authentication where available.
Letter is not the same as character
An eight-letter password contains only A–Z and a–z. An eight-character password can also contain numbers and symbols, while an alphanumeric password contains letters and numbers but no punctuation.
