One page for several database password formats
The search intent behind “database password generator” is broader than a single product. This page is a compatibility selector: it generates the credential and a transport-safe companion value where useful, while the dedicated pages provide the full explanation and controls for each engine.
PostgreSQL password preset
The PostgreSQL preset creates at least 16 characters from uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and RFC 3986 unreserved symbols. It also produces a percent-encoded form for a PostgreSQL connection URI. PostgreSQL itself does not impose a universal composition rule; server policy and authentication configuration still decide acceptance. For full-symbol output and SCRAM guidance, use the PostgreSQL password generator.
MySQL password preset
The MySQL preset includes all four character categories used by the optional validate_password component's default MEDIUM policy. The accompanying percent-encoded value is safer to place in a connector URL. Policy variables are configurable, so verify the destination server. The MySQL password generator also offers a URL-safe alphabet and connector guidance.
SQL Server password preset
The SQL Server preset uses uppercase, lowercase, numeric, and symbol categories with a connector-simple alphabet. The companion output wraps the password in ODBC braces and doubles a closing brace if one appears. Windows or Linux host password policy can add requirements. Use the SQL Server password generator for login-name exclusion and the broader policy alphabet.
Oracle password preset
The Oracle preset follows the supplied ORA12C verification function's category checks and emits conservative unquoted characters. It begins with a letter, uses only $, #, or _ as symbols, and stays within the 30-character compatibility cap. Choose the Oracle password generator for strong or STIG profiles and account-name exclusion.
Redis ACL password preset
The Redis preset mirrors the observable ACL GENPASS 256 shape: 256 random bits rendered as 64 lowercase hexadecimal characters. Its companion output adds the > prefix used by the ACL cleartext-password rule. When you control the server, the native Redis command is preferable. See the Redis password generator for custom bit counts and rounding details.
Connection strings are not secret storage
Encoding makes reserved characters syntactically safe; it does not encrypt the credential. Avoid committing passwords in application configuration, shell history, migration files, tickets, or documentation. Prefer a secrets manager or protected environment injection, apply least privilege, and rotate credentials using the database's supported process.
