What are the current Netflix password requirements?
Netflix's current Help Center guidance says the password should be different from passwords used on other websites or apps, contain at least 8 characters, mix uppercase and lowercase letters with numbers and symbols, and avoid personal information or easily guessed sequences.
Netflix passwords are case-sensitive. Capital and lowercase letters must therefore be entered exactly as saved. The current English guidance reviewed for this page does not state a universal maximum length.
Why does Netflix say a password is not secure or is too common?
Netflix blocks passwords found on its list of compromised or commonly used values. A password can meet the visible length and character guidance and still be rejected because it has appeared in breaches or is widely guessed.
Do not “fix” a blocked password by adding a predictable year or symbol. Generate a completely new random value that has never been used for another account.

How to generate a Netflix-compatible password

Why might Netflix reject a new password?
The candidate may be shorter than the current minimum, be present on Netflix's common or compromised list, omit a recommended character category, include personal information, or match the previous password during a reset.

How to change or reset a Netflix password
Go to netflix.com/loginhelp and request a reset by email or, when a mobile number is attached, by text message. Netflix says an email reset link expires after 24 hours and an SMS verification code expires after 20 minutes. A replacement cannot be the same as the previous password.
Netflix recommends leaving “Sign out all devices” selected when saving a replacement. If you sign in with an email added to a profile rather than the account owner's credentials, Netflix notes that you may not have a password to reset through this workflow.
Netflix account password versus Profile Lock PIN
The account password signs in to Netflix and protects account-level access. A Profile Lock uses a separate 4-digit PIN to restrict access to an individual profile. A Profile PIN is not a substitute for the account password and should not be entered into the password generator.
If the screen asks for four numbers to unlock a profile, follow Netflix's Profile Lock recovery steps instead of resetting the account password unnecessarily.
